THE RENOVATION WORK

Casa Oliva

The design of the location unfolds over three levels: from arousing emotions (general sense of beauty, quality and well-being conveyed to all five senses) to the materialisation of these elements (materials, lights, colours and aromas), concluding with the profound, indelible sources of inspiration (Ernesto Lapadula, Bice Lazzari and Carlo Scarpa).

The narrative thread belongs to Gigi Faccinetto, Carlo Scarpa’s tailor, through whose eyes we see the life of the artist and his family.

Three essential elements guide the project: harmony, design and light.

Carlo’s tailor Gigi accompanies us as he tells the story of the house, seen through his eyes: his daughters Marica and Barbara are the witnesses. The house is of course the home of the Lazzari and Lapadula families: only by crossing the garden do we reach Carlo Scarpa’s annex. We pass beneath the canopy designed by Le Corbusier and the beautifully lit eclectic and neoclassical sculptures. Light wins the day, as does geometry.

The common threads are the light and lines of Bice Lazzari, in a purely domestic setting which is never over-the-top, but is instead full of day-to-day objects.

Light is a critic of architecture; architecture is a means of understanding reality.
